The San Roque Club has two formidable 18-hole golf courses to play. The old established one and a new one. The most demanding, by far, is The Old Course (par 72). It was designed by the renowned Dave Thomas, and is regarded as one of the most challenging golf courses in Spain. The course has two distinct loops. On the first 9 holes you must negotiate tight fairways, tiered undulating greens and a forest of cork oaks. On the back 9 you have to negotiate some serious water hazards with a series of meandering streams. Yet at every hole you’ll find a superb view of either distant mountains or a shimmering sea. It’s no surprise the San Roque was chosen to host the Open de España on the European Tour.
