Real Club de Golf Sotogrande was also designed by Robert Trent Jones. It opened in 1964 and immediately became one of Europe´s top ten courses. It’s also one of Europe’s most beautiful, situated close to the beach next to the River Guadiaro and the Sotogrande marina. The fairways are immaculate and include numerous mature pine, cork, oak, palm and eucalyptus trees. They make the course seem much longer than its 6,868 yards. So do all the lakes and water hazards, particularly on the back nine. The club hosts the annual Sherry Cup-European Amateur Golf Masters. On its thirtieth year, Sotogrande was awarded the “Royal” insignia by his Majesty, King Juan Carlos de Borbon. When you play this 18 hole course, you’ll find out why.
