Montecastillo is not only one of Europe’s most famous golf courses. It’s possibly her best manicured and best maintained. Designed by Jack Nicklaus and inaugurated in 1993. It’s rated one of the five best course in Europe and deservedly so. It follows the principle that what you see is what you get, with no blind holes and open, big drive fairways. It was selected for the Turespaña Master Open of Andalusia, and the Volvo Masters, flagship of the PGA European Tour. The fairways look so inviting despite their many bunkers. The greens are large, with subtle borrows, and in the summer are lightning fast. Water comes into play on six of the holes and the last three are especially challenging. Up to five raised tees on each hole ensure that even high handicappers can enjoy playing this big, beautiful course.
