Oyster Reef Golf Club opened in 1982 and was immediately recognized as one of the top 25 new courses in America. This Rees Jones design has been voted one of the top 20 courses in the Carolinas and enjoys a reputation as a favorite among Hilton Head Island golfers. This 18-hole championship course offers 66 bunkers, which are well placed off the elevated tees and guard undulating two and three-tiered greens. Numerous dogleg fairways, accented by strategically located mounds and fairway bunkers, call for well-planned tee shots. The greens vary in size and their well-defined tiers place a premium on precise approach shots. Hole No. 6, a par 3, has been recognized by many as one of the most spectacular holes on Hilton Head and has been pictured on the cover of numerous golf magazines.
