Marketing got the best of me on Ballentine’s Finest. One of my favorite PGA Tour pros, Graeme McDowell, endorses Ballantine’s. Beyond that, I had never tried it. I figured that if my favorite Northern Irish Major winner was on board, then I was too. I set out to find a bottle at my local spirits shop and found the price to be a pleasant surprise. All the history, legacy and taste were packed into a value-priced bottle.
Personally, I enjoy this scotch over a few ice cubes and that’s it. It is typically against norms to drink a blend without water, but I find that water or soda dilutes the strong flavors and rich nose to be had in each glass.
With a creamy malt palate that ends in a hint of lemon and smoky wood, you should most assuredly pick up a bottle to try. Maybe a better golf game is at the bottom of the bottle!
