With faster A-1 bent grass greens and many reworked bunkers this classic, old style and previously highly over-rated course finally has something better to offer, and is getting better reviews. This tract was the site of the PGA Senior Tour Championships for four years, a Women’s U.S. Open and the finals of PGA Tour Qualifying School. Built almost on the beach, this Oceanside golf course, with four sets of tees, was consistently rated one of America’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses, primarily because the Dunes hosted the Golf Writers of America every year. Recently, however, with the loss of the Golf Writers event they are no longer on the Golf Digest Top 100. This is a semi-private facility, and features a broad variety of holes with their No. 13 (a.k.a. Waterloo) being world famous.
